Shanghai: China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) has announced
that is has signed, via a subsidiary, a shipbuilding contract with Dalian
Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) for the construction of a 319,000dwt VLCC.
Delivery of the vessel is schedule in September 2017.
CMES is currently optimizing the fleet to take
advantage of the favourable central government policy for ship scrapping. It
has ordered five VLCCs at DSIC and Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding in September and one
VLCC at DSIC in December.
