GMS weekly report on Bangladesh ship breaking industry for WEEK 49 of 2014:

Sensing the negativity surrounding the industry, canny Bangladeshi buyers waded into the market for a bargain or two. On containers however, it was the more aggressive Indian buyers who triumphed with several purchases at decent levels from cash buyer inventories.

In terms of larger LDT units very few capesize bulkers or VLCCs / suezmax tankers (vessels of 20,000 LDT and upwards) were available for sale. So end users had to make the most of handy bulkers and smaller LDT general cargo units to fill their plots.

It has been a busy tide for beaching some of the high priced vessels concluded during the peak September times consequently some of the bigger buyers may be booked for the time being or may be seeking cheaper vessels to even out the expensive purchases on their plots.
