GMS weekly report on Turkey ship breaking industry for WEEK 32 of 2014:

As anticipated, demand from the Turkish market remained healthy through the first week of August with only a few ships hitting the shores of Aliaga.

Since there was neither a significant improvement in the supply of tonnage nor any significant change in local steel plate prices or the local currency, the market remained firm with a marked improvement in levels offered by end buyers, who remain eager to acquire new tonnage.

Meanwhile, the national elections, which took place during the weekend, are not expected to negatively affect the local market in any way. As such, it remains whether prices will continue to perform favorably throughout August.
