The government has
earned Tk1.518 billion as revenue from the ship breaking sector at Shitakundu
in the 2014-2015 financial year.
Finance Minister
Abul Maal Abdul Muhith disclosed this while replying to a question from
treasury bench member Didarul Alam in the Jatiya Sangsad Monday. The total
revenue income include Tk0.97 billion as income tax from 53 ship breaking
organisations and Tk0. 55 as Value Added Tax (VAT) from 81 organisations in the
same financial year, Muhith said, according to BSS.
