MV Wisdom - when stranded at Mumbai beach |
The cargo vessel, on her voyage from Colombo to Alang in Gujarat for scrapping, grounded at Juhu beach in Mumbai after its towing cable got snapped on June 11. It was being towed away by the motor tug Seabulk Plover (Flag St Vincent and Grenadine). After parting of the towing wire, approximately 10 miles west off the Mumbai Port , the vessel started drifting due to strong winds and eventually ran aground near the beach.
The operation launched to salvage the grounded ship on June 19 had to be suspended for about a fortnight due to engine snag in the lead tug. The vessel was successfully tugged away from Juhu beach on July 2 and resumed its journey to Alang.
