Five people were killed Tuesday morning when a truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong
The deceased are CNG driver Lokman, 31, of Jamalpur, Nurus Safa, 50, of Sitakunda, and three workers of a ship-breaking yard -- Monir, 30, Mazid, 30, and Halim, 35, -- hailed from Pirojpur.
Wahidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Barwalia Highway Police, said the accident occurred at about 7:00am when a truck carrying electrical goods hit an oncoming CNG-run three wheeler near Madam Bibirhat area.
The driver and all the four passengers of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot, reports our staff correspondent in Chittagong
Police seized the truck while its driver managed to flee the scene.
