More bad news for Bangladesh breaking yards:

The Bangladeshi shipbreaking industry is bracing itself for the worst once again, as the Bangladesh Ship Breakers Association (BSBA) received word that it would have to return to the courts to obtain an extension allowing the market to remain open.

The market, which reopened in March after having been closed by court order for almost a year, will have to shut down after May 7 if the extension is not granted in time.

In the meantime, beachings have been gathering pace at the yards near the southern city of Chittagong, despite India offering the highest prices for most vessel types.
