‘We will appreciate Swedish cooperation and investment in the shipbuilding, ship recycling and agro-chemical industries sectors,’ foreign minister Dipu Moni told the new Swedish ambassador, Ann Margareta, when she called on the minister on Tuesday.
They also discussed bilateral cooperation, trade and investment in power, renewable energy and education.
The ambassador informed the minister of the possibility of more Swedish assistance in the education sector in the form of scholarships and admission opportunities. Ann said that there existed huge potential for increasing Swedish imports from Bangladesh.
The Swedish investors would like to invest in Bangladesh with advanced technology in renewable energy, especially in solar power, she said.
The outgoing Italian ambassador, Itala Occhi, also called on the foreign minister on Tuesday.
Dipu Moni appreciated Italian cooperation in the sectors of health, hydro-power, capacity building in water treatment and river dredging.
